Tarlac State University officials attended an emergency meeting called by the Tarlac City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council this afternoon, August 31, 2026.
Discussions centered on the status of the Agana and Aquino bridges, overarching public safety concerns, and strategic response plans following the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) over the weekend.
University President Dr. Jasper Jay N. Mendoza outlined the university's emergency response measures, mitigation strategies, and adaptation plans, which include the shift to an asynchronous learning modality, the temporary reassignment of personnel to the San Isidro campus, and the deployment of shuttle services.
Moreover, he offered the TSU Sports Community and Wellness Center at the San Isidro campus as a designated rest stop and staging area for city volunteers and rescue personnel.
Pres. Mendoza attended the meeting alongside Vice Presidents Dr. Marlon V. Gamido and Dr. Brendalyn A. Manzano, Office of Business and Auxiliary Services and Alumni Affairs Director Dr. Winston Abalos, and University and Board Secretary Dr. Ronnie A. Dungo.
Concurrently, Vice President Dr. Niño B. Corpuz and CIT Dean Prof. Bryan Christopher C. Sico inspected the San Isidro campus to evaluate facility damage and check on on-duty personnel, while Extension Campuses Director Prof. Douglas C. Ferrer conducted parallel checks at the Concepcion and Capas campuses.
In a unified response, TSU Board of Regents (BOR) members Hon. Maricar N. Banting (NASA), Hon. Brixter L. Millo (Former SSC President), and Hon. Jazzmine Faye Samson (SSC President) traveled to the western part of the province to check on students and personnel and provide them with relief aid.
